Powell named to governor’s fitness council

COLUMBUS — A Canton woman was reappointed to the Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness, Wellness and Sports.

Renee Powell, a former LPGA tour golfer and now head professional at Clearview Golf Club in Osnaburg Township, was appointed to the council by Gov. Bob Taft. Her term ends Dec. 31, 2004.

The council recommends health and physical fitness guidelines, programs and activities to the state health director. It also recommends educational materials for distribution to the public. Members are compensated for expenses.
